What Students Think About Meditec
“I loved my training from Meditec! It’s comprehensive, complete, and the added humor in the areas where the transcription gets tough kept me going. The equipment works great and is easy to use. My instructor was kind and helpful. I would recommend this school to anyone who wants to learn medical transcription from home, at their own pace….”

“Hi Jari!
Hope all’s well with you, yours, and Meditec!
I just wrapped up my internship — It was a fantastic experience, and your advice (not to take feedback personally) was right on! Along the same line, I happened to catch an Oprah show where she spoke of their staff having a saying–”Feedback is our friend”–and it became my mantra!
I also kept a detailed log of QA feedback I affectionately called “the good, the bad, the ugly”, and absolutely loved the challenge and the sort-of detective aspect of filling in the gaps and learning something new each day. I have to say my favorites are the the psych reports and autopsies.
The Jumpstart program is such a valuable and unique feature of Meditec’s offerings, and I am so glad to have been a part of it. In terms of job prospects, MT is actually a second career for me, and I am in the fortunate position of it being something I want to do as opposed to something I must do. Yesterday, exactly 6 months to the day from my Meditec final exam, I signed on with *****(withheld name of company) as an IC. It suits my lifestyle perfectly, and I am delighted!
Thank you, thank you, for all the ways you and your staff have had a hand in making this whole new opportunity a reality for me and so many others. I am looking forward to honing my skills and becoming certified, and will continue to recommend and endorse your program to friends and family…it’s the best!”
Fondly,
Nancy”
“Gary,
Thank you so much for all your help and great information. I appreciate you being so understanding about my situation and giving me the information I need rather than being pushy about getting started (like some other schools have been….). It just proves that my decision to use Meditec is the right one! Thanks for referring me to Dawn, we have been in contact and she has been extremely helpful as well. Like I said, I hope to get started in asap either in July or the beginning of August so I will definitely be in touch with you!
Thank you so much,
Laura M”
“Hi Dawn,
Just wanted to let you know how I’m doing with Accustats internship. It’s been 2 weeks and I’m loving it. Based on my calculations I have a 98% for the 2 weeks. Thank You Meditec!
I have a girlfriend who is interested in medical billing and coding. She asked about Meditec and of course I totally recommended Meditec.
Have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend.

“Dear Meditec Staff:
May I please take this time to commend you on your outstanding Enrollment, Billing and Support Staff.
I did my research and found your company by word of mouth testimonials of great success stories. As a single mother in a state position with a contract ending, I was in a very tough position. I often felt overwhelmed by the nature of working a job that I knew was ending, caring for a child on my own and studying nights and weekends to secure a future for us. Not only was the course completely thorough and engaging, but the staff were never short of amazing to work with.
Before even receiving my Certification with High Honors, I was offered a position for employment with 2 different companies for double the amount of money I was being paid for a state position.
I would like to give my strong recommendation to anyone considering this company for their education needs. Me and my fiance’ look forward to continuing education with Medtec and it’s outstandin staff.

“Hi Dawn!
Hope all is well with you!
I just wanted to let you know that I took the CCA exam (through AHIMA) and PASSED it today! Thank GOD!
The next step will be to polish my Resume and start looking for a job. I actually consider looking for any internship in a hospital setting, if possible, to gain on-the-job training. I will also check different hospitals’ Volunteer program if I can be a part of it just to gain experience and hopefully may be offered a coding job (?) someday. I will also start sending my Resume to different Doctor’s clinic as well.
I am still taking a month’s rest from all the studying and will concentrate looking for a job by May. Hope all things will go smooth as planned.
Once again, please know that I am forever grateful for all your valuable advice.
Take care and God bless!

“Hi Jari,
I just wanted to thank you and everyone else at Meditec! I graduated from your course over the summer and then my husband was hurt and I was not able to do the Jumpstart Program right away. I want to thank everyone for getting me into the Jumpstart Program. I was hired on March 1st and I am so happy about that. I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate everything from all of you and will always be thankful. You guys made it easy to pay for everything and get my foot in the door!
Thank you again,

“*Dear Meditec,*
STUDENT’S NAME: Ray M.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS: Hyperhedonia. (much pleasure)
CHIEF COMPLAINT: None.
HISTORY:
I am totally blind, and 33 years old. Last year, I was struggling to figure out how I might suppport my wife and me while I finish my Ph.D. I can’t just go to the local fast-food restaurant and flip burgers. I talked with a supervisor of medical transcriptionists at an area hospital, and he recommended Meditec. And so I called them, and, immediately began downloading spelling word files so I could start learning how to be a medical transcriptionist.
COMPLICATIONS:
None. Meditec was very accommodating for my disability. They even made sure I received MS-Word files with answer keys to transcription assignments where the keys were only available in print. I could use my screen reader on my computer to read the MS-Word documents. They arranged the final exam so I could take it easily with my screen reader. They were even willing to proof-read a couple early practice reports to make sure I wasn’t missing anything in the visual department.
LABORATORY DATA:
Meditec’s excellent training can be measured imperically. Just last week I took a qualifying exam for a medical transcriptionist relief position in a hospital, the same hospital whose MT supervisor told me about Meditec. A few days later I received a phone call from them saying that I did so well on the exam, they would like to interview me for a full-time position. At the interview, just 2 days ago, the man told me I received the highest score he had seen in his time giving that exam.
CAREER COURSE:
See above. I’ve now just been filling out forms and arranging appointments for everything from the drug screening to orientation.
DISPOSITION:
Student leaves the MT program at Meditec very qualified to work in the real world. Student is discharged on 40-hour-week work therapy (full-time job) starting on August 18, 2008.
God bless.

“*Dear Robin and Corie,*
I finished your school in late May and have JUST now found the time to touch base with you once again! I have been so excited about finishing and Working! I’m still not making money But I will!!!
The day I found out I had passed both parts of the test I got on with Deb at ***** Transcription! I LOVE IT! I think I am doing well! I am only today starting my 4th week and I’m about 92.% accuracy! I’ve gotten over 98% some but not cosistently! The only real problem I have is with sentence structure, commas and the like!
I truly DO enjoy doing this and look forward to a rewarding future! I am talking to about 6 people that SAY they are interested in taking your course! So far I haven’t closed any deals but I’m trying!!!
So far you have 3 members of my family out there in the work force! My daughter Valerie R. took the course, then my sister Karen B. and now me! So you are TRULY a success! Thank you so much for all your help! I didn’t want to just never talk to you again! Wanted you to know I’m feeling well about my education!
Best of luck to the two of you!
Janet M.”
“Hi,
I wanted to drop a note to say just how great all the staff at Meditec are. Everyone that I have had the privilege to chat with, either by email or phone, has been extremely courteous, helpful and encouraging. There have been times when I wondered if I was in over my head, but then I’d get a reminder on the CD or in the book to stretch, take a deep breath and just keep going. And it is wonderful to know I have a support team just a phone call away. It has been a real pleasure and I look forward to the next phase.
Blessings, Teresa P.”
“Corie,
I just wanted to let you know how wonderful this Medical Transcription training was for me. I started the program in July of 2006 and finished in November of 2006 and started working in December 2006. I went from knowing nothing about the medical field, medical terminology, or even knowing what a medical transcriptionist was, to having a wonderful new career that lets me be home with my daughter.
This course was so thorough and covered all aspects of medical dictation. The transcription company that hired me said they didn’t normally hire new graduates but she said I did so well on their sample dictations that she hired me the same day I took the test. After being hired, I heard back from 6-8 other companies I had applied for a few days earlier. There really is a demand for medical transcriptionists out there!
Thanks again for everything!
Genevie D.”
“I have been meaning to get back to you for awhile now but have been very busy working (yes, working!) and I had a baby last month, too. So things have been crazy.
I wanted to let you know that I have been working with Ubiqus since November and I absolutely love it. They are really great people and I am so thankful that I can stay home with my kids and work. That means the world to me. So I thank you very, very much for helping me to obtain that goal. I truly appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Susie H
Proud Meditec graduate!”
“
Corie; I was hired my [***] full time… I got to pick the shift I wanted to work out of many options…. They are starting me out at 7.5 cents/line… 65 char inc. spaces/ 5000 lines min./every 2 weeks…. is that a lot? Will I be able to handle the load? I trust your knowledge better than mine. I will be transcribing Behavioral Health reports that are long with minimal headings and labs. They provide extra incentives and the possibility of OT if I want more hours. They provide the software and foot pedal. Let me know your impression or if you’re familiar with the company.
Thanks so much,
Kathi R”

I just wanted to tell you that I went for a job interview this morning at our local hospital. She was very impressed with the letter of recommendation from Meditec. Thank you.
The interview went very well, and I will know something at the end of the week. The position is for a medical records clerk, with coding and some billing. She also wanted to know if I would want to do some transcription when they had extra, (with a mentor/supervisor) even though I am still finishing that course. It’s my foot in the door, and it’s very close to my house.
She grilled me on types of codes, and proper books, what to do when you’re not sure about documentation and HIPPA regulations. I knew every answer thanks to both the Billing and Coding courses I took. So, thanks again!
I realize that she has more interviews to go, and I AM the person with the least amount of experience, but I believe that having the Meditec certification of completion certainly helped me even get the interview!
I will let you know how it goes.
Six months later:
I just wanted to pop in here while I was thinking about it and offer encouragment to everyone. I know there are a lot of people out there who say if you do not go to the “top 3″ you won’t be able to get a job. I went through the Jumpstart Program and left a month early. It was a great experience! I just had another opportunity that I could NOT pass up!
So far, I have my own business now and 2 full accounts plus I work for OSi. Who, by the way, DOES hire newbies if you pass-and the test to pass into the JP was much harder! I still even use my coding skills I received from the coding course! When the hospital gets behind on coding, they call me and I do that from home now too! On a side note, the HomeBiz book really helped out with contracts and understanding what needs to be done. The links in the back are invaluable. Meditec gave me a wonderful start in my new career and it is up to me to continue it! The best of to everyone, don’t give up!

“As of today, I am giving you 2 weeks’ notice as I have been offered a job with another company. I want you to know the training I received was invaluable. The Jumpstart program is so worth the time because it’s real MT work, real on-the-job-training. Obviously, I learned enough in a short period of time to land a job with a reputable company and with good pay, and it was the first company I tested for! Thank you so much for getting me there! Good luck to both of you!
SKH
Hi! Just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for doing such an excellent job of preparing me to be an MT. While still finishing up your course, I thought I’d begin searching for jobs. I replied to a few ads I saw, telling them that I had no experience but was up for the challenge if they’d hire me. The next day I got a response from one, was asked to take a 50-question test, and soon was hired. I’ve been working for them for almost a month now and am loving it! So a big thanks to you guys here at Meditec!!! I do have a question though. Am wondering if I should go ahead and still try to take that 3-hour exam or is it not necessary since I already have an excellent fulltime job??
Thanks again.
Marci”
“I graduated last month with a fairly low score but I was given encouragement by Corie and Jari that I will do well in this field because all I need is some experience. I sent out 150 resumes since then, no lie! I received a job offer from a nonprofit mental health center but had to turn it down due to high daycare rates and the job’s low pay. The HR person is seeing about getting me outsource work from home because I tested so well! Wow, what a great feeling. I am also in line for another job with a pathology lab. I have my second interview this week. They said I tested so well that if it had been for the regular transcription dept. they would have hired me. Thanks so much to this wonderful course. I am definitely coming back in a year or so to do the billing and coding course.

“Just wanted to share some good news! After getting through only about 1/3 to 1/2 of the actual MT course dictation, I got a job! In my neck of the woods, there’s a company which subcontracts MTs for local accounts. The owner gave me some test dictation and apparently I did really well. My first day was yesterday and I got done in half the time I expected. I also have a seasoned MT monitoring me, and she said I did really good on my first reports. To tell the truth, I was a little surprised they were so easy. I expected them to be more like our practice dictation. This course is amazing, and the practical experience was the key to me landing this work!
Chris”
“Hello at Meditec…So far, so good with my {new practice} consulting job. So many things to learn…. but I must say your course has helped me significantly. I’ve really been able to hit the ground running in the job because of the background your course gave me… specifically with the overview of coding, understanding the fields on the CMS form, knowledge of electronic claims vs. paper claims, and clearinghouses. Also the tips on how the insurance companies will try to reject the claims for minor errors were helpful, and to proactively prevent all errors in submissions. I recruited an administrator without a medical background, and it was a great learning for me… I won’t do that again because of the learning curve involved. At a minimum, I will be recommending your course to others before I will agree to have them help me in the medical billing field.
Regards,
Michele”
“Hi, I am curently studying the MT course and I am impressed. My background is:
46 year old male, native English with a BA in English Language and Linguistics and graduate certification in Teaching English as a Second Language. My degrees are fairly recent, 1998, and I have several years of university level teaching experience, while in school and after. In addition, over the last 6 years I have primarily taught grammar and composition classes, which I am currently teaching at UNLV. Thus, I am quite well-versed in most fundamental language issues.
As far as I can see to this point (roughly halfway through Volume 2 of the Terminology portion), there is very little that I can say, aside from “nice job”. I believe a student must be well-engaged to fuel the learning process. Moreover, you have absolutely no choice but to utilize this methodology with the variety of students you must encounter, so the courseware must be “user friendly”. You cannot learn it for them, nor can you make it completely simple; however, you can keep them interested by creating a clear and concise approach, which I think you have done.
Too many texts, in the past, have presented a cryptic approach to the learner in my view; thus, teachers mask their own ignorance of material by acting as if they are the vaults of knowledge that the students need to
access. Your approach, though, encourages the learning process, attempts to make fairly dry material (for some) interesting and offers a clear and concise method to basic terminology retention. In addition, you have taken
the need for an instructor out of the equation. The exercises turn the text into a reference guide and keep the student constantly moving between pages as well as referring to very fundamental ideas learned in the initial units. Your texts have the ring of a truly well-written composition. The thesis is reiterated sufficiently throughout, and the material is “scaffolded” as all new languages should be. For, as you well know, this is a process of truly learning a new language, which quite honestly is never easy. Trust me, I have spent 9 years with Japanese, and even 4 years of living there was not enough to put me in a comfortable position.
Since my education is linguistically based, and I am certain I have studied material intensely more difficult, I find this approach refreshing. Anyone who has ever studied English Transformational Grammar, Semantics, Phonology
and Morphology in one year can tell you that this is the kind of learning my colleagues and I had always yearned for. Moreover your approach dispenses with all rote-memorization techniques and focuses on use and familiarization as its basic tenets. If you are the creator of this material, then I commend you for a job well-done. To this point, these texts exhibit a true understanding of how people need to learn through continued use of vocabulary and concepts.
For all of you weighing the pros and cons of the various Medical Transcription courses available, let me add some information for you to consider as well as explain why I chose Meditec.
As a former university composition instructor, with an enviable background in English Linguistics, I was certain this would be the field for me. I tried not to become overconfident and looked at many different courses before deciding on Meditec. Once I selected the course, I began my work in earnest. I breezed right through the terminology portion, took a break from Transcription and completed the Coding course and studied the Billing course, then came back to the transcription. All of this went rather quickly; however, when I began to work diligently on the Transcription reports, I truly began to see the value of Meditec from the sheer volume and variety of reports from which I was to begin gaining crucial experience.
I will never be able to say enough about this company overall; but in particular, their instructors utilize a no nonsense, professional approach that I consider a true benefit to anyone who selects their course. When I needed an answer, it was right there.
Should you decide on Meditec for your training in this field, my recommendation is that you prepare yourself for a lively yet professional training experience.
In addition, do not view them as an inadequate service because they are not as expensive as other companies. In fact, see them as an entity interested in and genuinely concerned with properly training you for your future, and not solely motivated by making money. Meditec certainly serves the best interest of Medical Transcription, Billing, and Coding with every graduate they send out from their program, and you will find they are well respected in this field. I chose Meditec because the company philosophy is practical, and there should never be any other consideration. They believe in the two essential parts of basic education that many people seem to have conveniently forgotten: Hard work and practice. This company truly understands the need for people to be instructed properly in this field, and in turn, they comprehend the need for students to take charge of their own learning experience as a means of building additional confidence in their ability.
Simply put, I would choose Meditec because the company follows through on their initial claims. Why am I training? A little disenchanted with teaching, I plan to widen my horizons.

TESTIMONIAL — Note from a Jumpstart partner:
From: Deborah Moore
To: Jari Davis
My company has worked with Meditec for almost a year now on one of my larger accounts. I have been extremely pleased with the editor/mentors that Meditec provides for the Jumpstart students because of their knowledge and professionalism and I trust their judgment when it comes to hiring their students.
I can say that as far as the Jumpstart students themselves, well I am especially pleased! I have hired on every Jumpstart student that has finished the Jumpstart program while working on our accounts.
The best part is once they were hired, their accuracy and knowledge was so great that we rarely had to QA their reports. The individuals knew when to ask questions instead of guessing, which in this industry is a very dangerous practice.
I will definitely continue to use Meditec and the Jumpstart program as long as they want to work with us and I will indeed hire each and every student that completes the Jumpstart Program!!

I’ll try to take a deep breath!!!
I think the program was excellent. It’s so excellent, that I got a job doing medical transcription without taking the exam yet!! I did a sample tape and it went so well, that she hired me.
I think it was very comprehensive and the transcribing helped alot. The only way to get experience is by doing.
Thank you very much. I will pass on the good word about your program.

Good morning, Josh, this is Pat O[ ]. I am so excited I can hardly stand it.
I was so nervous taking the exam last evening and decided to go on the internet
this AM to send an email to you and Corie to let you know I have completed
everything and to my surprise an email from Corie with my exam graded. I can’t
believe it was done so fast. I got a 93%. I just can’t believe it. I studied so hard
and at my age I believe (at least to me) that was a great accomplishment.
I want to thank everyone at Meditec.Com for being so helpful and understanding with
me. I plan on recommending this course to anyone who is interested. As a
matter of fact I was talking with a girl who is taking a coding course through At
Home Professions and when I showed her my material she was so impressed
with your materials. She said she wished she had known about Meditec.Com. I know
I am sure glad I found you and took the course with you. I hope the company
that showed me interest will be impressed with my score and will hire me.
Keep your fingers crossed and I will let you know.
Again, thank you, thank you, thank you. Also, it was very nice of Corie to grade
my exam in such a prompt way especially since it was on a Sunday and her day
off. She has helped me tremendously.
I look forward to receiving my certificate from you. Again, please convey my
thanks to everyone at Meditec.
Sincerely,
Pat O.”
“I just want to thank you so much for the opportunity to take the Meditec.Com course in medical transcription. I feel that this has been a very thorough course and I have learned a lot. The course is set up very well, in that it is easy and sensible for a beginner to learn the terminology but also a very good way to brush up for those who have done it before.
One thing that I have really appreciated is the support from you. Every time that I have called with questions I have been able to talk to you and not a machine. You have been very helpful and friendly and took a lot of the fear out of doing this.
I had checked out several other programs before this one, and found them to be very spendy and not as complete as yours. It was nice to find someone who really cared enough to make this program more available.
I have recommended this program to several people and hopefully they will sign up and get the benefits that I have. Keep up the good work.
Thank you from your friend in Oregon,

“I have been, and am working a temporary 8-5 job, until this coming Friday, in an OB/GYN clinic while their MT is on vacation. This is so totally fun and challenging! For the first time in my life I do not begrudge the 8 hours per day doing something I don’t want to do, because I really am doing what I want to do!
This is so, just, well, WOW! Thank you so much for making it possible through your study course, and keeping it affordable which is really the main reason I chose it. Please know that I am highly recommending it to everyong at AOL message boards, there are so many newbies looking into MT and wanting to know about schooling.

“My name is Natalie C. and I am a graduate of Meditec.Com and I have been involved in the Earn and Learn Program. I just wanted to let you know that this is a WONDERFUL program!!! Without it I don’t know what I would have done.
Corie is excellent and very helpful!! She has just recommended me to [ABC Transcription] and I cannot wait to hear back from them!!
This Program is truly needed for new transcriptions, who know the terms but need some guidance on how to get started. Corie was so helpful and kind about guided me through the forms and terms, I just can’t thank you all enough!!
THANK YOU AGAIN!!”

Jari, my experience with Meditec was approximately three years ago when I purchased your transcription course
from IHA (now VLC). I was hired at a hospital before completing the entire course
and taking the final exam. I did however, take
a final exam with IHA and passed it, however, no certificate was ever provided by them.
I have now worked for two years as a transcriptionist and am looking at getting work-at-home instead of in-
house. In talking with national companies that hire work-at-home transcriptionists, I have found that Meditec.Com
is highly recommended and recognized by these companies. I am now taking the final exam from Meditec.Com
three years later. I really appreciate you letting me take this test even though I didn’t purchase the course
from you. Meditec.Com has been very prompt in answering my questions and offering help.
I have recently signed up to take the on-line course for medical billing and coding with Meditec.
I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to get into a transcription, coding or billing career.
Thanks again for all of your help.

“Hi Corie,
Since you represent Meditec, I thought I would share with you my good news.
About a week ago, I sent out a flyer, my business card, and a business
letter to several local medical practices. Well, the very next day, I
started getting calls, and this past Thursday, I landed my first account. I
started transcribing for them on Friday, and so far so good. The best part
is that I am still getting calls!
I was really concerned that I would not be able to get a job as a newbie. I
sent my resume out to all of the big hospitals first, and I was turned down
for even an interview because of my lack of experience. So, I was a bit
discouraged. However, I decided to try sending out a mass mailing as a
means to advertise my service, and to my absolute amazement, the phone is
ringing off the hook.
So, thank you for the great program you have put together. I know I am by
no means as good as a seasoned MT, but I know with time and experience I
will get there. I just wanted to drop a line to let you know that it really
is true that you can work from home as an MT after taking your course.
With sincere thanks,
Maria L. W.”
“I just wanted to send you a short message telling you how much I appreciate the programs Meditec offers – at least the ones I have taken. When I first started, the journey looked like a trip on the Great Wall. In addition, I had to take 2 months out of the middle for personal reasons. I was afraid it wouldn’t come back. But it did.
When I completed the course for MT, I took the written portion of the test for Medquist and passed it. At that point, I felt that I would benefit from the Jumpstart program and pursued that, with Corie as my editor. At first, I really thought I would go nuts. I seemed to miss everything. Eventually, with Corie’s tough, no nonsense approach, I began to see progress. Tuesday, I will start life as a contract with ABC and I have great hopes for that.
Thanks for keeping a standard that we can all be proud of.

Corie ! Yahoo ! Boy can you tell I’m excited. I got the job ! Hired right on the phone. They offer full benefits, health, dental, vision, 401K plan, short and long term disability, attractive vacation, PTO (awaiting an email on how much time you get off). They offer 4 ten hour days, but I don’t like the days. I picked Sunday through Thursday 11 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. EST, which is my time. Four weeks of training which is paid $9 hour for 4 weeks, then it goes to 7 cents a line, a computer (yep, I’m getting a computer) and $39.99 a month towards your internet bill (you must have high-speed internet) which I have.
The lady was so nice. We talked for over a half hour. She is going to be my mentor. I have to wait for an employment packet to come in the mail and you have to take a drug test, then your computer comes.
Corie, I’m sooooo happy I feel like dancing. Thank you for sending me that job sheet. That is where I found Heartland. If it wasn’t for you sending me that, I would have never found Heartland. I owe it all to you guys. I need to celebrate Oh, and it’s all acute care and I LOVE acute care.

Hi Corie,
Well, I did tell you that I will keep you posted on my ventures. I used the jobs list that you have sent me. I found oodles of MT jobs on genuinejobs.com. I applied at ABC.. I took a 2-part test; one written, and one dictation that consisted of 4 dictations. The dictation was tough !!!!! They were all ESLs (English as a second language) dictations. I was extremely nervous taking that test because there were parts I had no idea what the doctors were saying, but I took it slow. I also had my doubts because they said they wanted 2 years’ experience, but they let me take the test anyway.
Well, I took it and submitted it in. I want to share with you the response I received back from them. Here it is copied/pasted below:
“I have just finished correcting your test and you will be eligible for hire as you did quite well with these difficult dictators. The next step will be an interview by phone, however, since this is a new department, we are still ironing out a few things before the interview process begins. I will let you know via email when your interview will take place. Thank you for testing and, although I do not give feedback on the tests as it is too time consuming, you did well.”

“Well, I just signed and forwarded a real contract, and I begin transcription work on Monday. I can’t believe that I just completed the course a little over two weeks ago and I’m already hired! I had to pass their transcription test with at least 98% accuracy in order to be considered. Obviously, I was prepared — thanks to you.
I wanted to say thank you very much for the patience, the encouragement and all of the help. Everyone at Meditec is wonderful and I am singing your praises!
Here’s to the new journey…..

” Hi Corie, I just thought you’d like to see the recommendation letter I sent to AAMT about you and Meditec.
It’s all true, you guys rock, especially you.
Letter:
Well, first of all, it’s spelled Meditec (just making certain that we’re talking about the same course).
It took me about 6 months to complete the course in 2004, and that was far from working on it full-time.
I found it to be pretty comprehensive, the dictations are widely varied which I thought was great.
Once I passed the final exam (93% the first time I took it), I began applying for jobs. I only found three companies that would even consider hiring a newbie, and I found this to be quite distressing. However, Corie at Meditec was adamant that I not give up and that I had to make them believe that I could do the job. I did not work for them as an intern. They didn’t have a place for me, and it turned out to be best that way.
I was hired as a full-time employee only two weeks after completing the Meditec course and offered benefits after 90 days. I scored 98% on the company’s test that I work for now. I felt pretty well-prepared when I started work, but at the same time, nothing can prepare you since every hospital has it’s own system and suddenly it’s not just
practice dictations. Mostly, though, I just had to get used to the doctor’s voices (and Southern accents). My
company had a mentoring program and I went through that quite swiftly.
Back to Meditec: Anytime I had a question, Corie or someone else was there for me, and Corie has continually kept in contact with me to check on job hunting progress and then just to see how my job is going. One of the reasons I chose their course is because they give you what you need, but you don’t have to buy all the medical books from them. This was important because I was able to buy them all used on Amazon, and every company has their own idea of which books you must
have to work for them.
While I had technical difficulties getting started at my new job, once I got going, I got quite quickly up to speed. They were very impressed with my speed and accuracy considering my lack of experience. I think Meditec strips out a lot of excess things that other companies offer. It’s not that these things aren’t useful, but they are not going to help you get a job when you’re a newbie. Meditec gave me enough knowledge and practice to get my foot in the door and get what I really need in order to become a CMT someday; EXPERIENCE.
I can highly recommend them for anyone interested in getting started in the industry.

“Meditec is the best career move I’ve ever made…
I had been thinking about taking a Medical Transcription course for some time but had some serious concern:
1. Being an on-line course how reputable would it be?
2. Will it be worth the investment, both financially and emotionally?
3. How knowledgeable/helpful are the instructors once you enroll in the course?
4. Having never had any medical experience in the past, will I understand the material?
5. Will I be able to get a job after I complete the course?
I’m sure the above are concerns that anyone taking any on-line course would have but you see my situation is a little unique. Not only did I have to consider those things but I am also a person with a disability that affects my legs. Because of this I am in a wheelchair and unable to use my legs.
So, the big question is, how will I listen and type the dictation without being able to slow it down with the use of a foot pedal as most people would. The 1st thing I tried was practicing the dictation with both the CD’s & Cassette tapes. Well, that didn’t work. Using my hands to stop and start the cassettes was difficult and slowed my dictation down to a snail’s pace.
So, the next thing I did was get the WavePlayer and tried practicing with the CD’s. That did help a little, at least now I was able to start and stop the dictation a little easier by using the keys on the keyboard. But I knew realistically that this still wasn’t good enough. My speed and accuracy were very slow and I knew this would only lead to extreme frustration and no employment.
If you knew me you’d know I never give up, so, with the help of some wonderful Meditec people (Jari , Corie & Dana) we came up with the idea of trying voice recognition software, Dragon Naturally Speaking Medical 7.2 (software that types for you as you speak.) Never using it before, I wasn’t sure but I was willing to try anything!
So, now I begin my search for the software, I found their website and it looked like it was exactly what I needed but it was much more expensive than I expected. The next step was to search for a deal. Luckily I was able to find the software on Ebay for ¼ the price! So, I took the chance and brought the software…like they say, you have to spend money to make money. It’s so true. I figured if it didn’t work the way I expected I could always try and resell it on Ebay.
Using the CDs, WavePlayer and Dagon Naturally Speaking Medical my prayers were finally answered! With each dictation I practiced I realized that my hopes were becoming a reality. I was able to do the dictation in a way that helped me learn the terminology needed, learn the course material and gain the speed that is required to be a Medical Transcriptionist.
Don’t get me wrong; it was no walk in the park. The course is tough but if you have the drive, ambition and support you can conquer anything! Even if you have to go “down a different path” then most.
So to ease your concerns:
Being an on-line course how reputable would it be? Extremely!
Will it be worth the investment, both financially and emotionally? Most definitely!
How knowledgeable/helpful are the instructors once you enroll in the course? More than I ever imagined!
Having never had any medical experience in the past, will I understand the material? Yes!
Will I be able to get a job after I complete the course? You bet!
So, if you have physical challenges do not hesitate. It can be done! I am living proof. I just passed the exam with a 90% and will be starting the Jumpstart program soon!
Thanks to everyone (you know who you are!) who has helped me make this career choice a reality. I will be recommending this course to everyone I know! Meditec is the best!

Hey at Meditec: Thanks for your reply! I knew you would follow through. I really appreciate your promptness, if I haven’t told you that lately! Your attention to details is awesome! You just don’t know how much I appreciate this after starting that “other” school and having to wait weeks for responses to questions, quiz results, etc…How frustrating! I am still amazed sometimes at how much personal attention you give your site and your students! I feel very lucky to have run across your school. When I think what could have been; I cringe!! So does my pocket book!
You have provided a “taste of reality” in each exam report so far!! Good Job! A 20-year veteran, E-mail MT buddy of mine (she is only 38 and used to transcribe for 10-11 doctors in her town before they went “Internet” last month is just now transcribing her first “OPERATIVE.” I, because of your course, probably know more about an operative than she does! Kudos to you!! She, of course, with all those years of experience, has an excellent ear! She says that “If you can tape it, I can type it!” Can’t wait to be able to quote that one!! LOL You can probably relate to that statement, I’m sure!!
I really admire what you have done! You have taken a complicated MT course and turned it into a truly awesome experience. Heck, even if I never work as an MT; I would be happy with the fact that I chose your course to learn from. It is absolutely unique!

“Greetings,
I just received my course work today and have already begun my studies. I just wanted to write and let you know how pleased I am with the course. I immediately overviewed all the materials when I received them and was thoroughly impressed with the course. I had enrolled with another home study program for medical transcription, after receiving the other schools materials I found their course inadequate. The course relied heavily on textbook reading and memorization rather than hands on experience. The text was outdated and filled with unnecessary content. Already, I have been able to retain more through the couple of lessons I have done through Meditec than with many lessons with the other school. Also, you have made the wave player available, which I ordered, and believe this will give me more practical skills. The Homebiz book answers so many of my questions in regards to working from home. Thank you, for caring enough about your students to create a complete, up-to-date, simple program to teach future MTs.

“Thank you so much for helping me today (and for giving me my first official Windows lesson)! I just returned from Borders……I bought the Windows for Dummies and you’re right…..this will definitely help me……it’s what I needed.
I also wanted to reiterate to you how I enjoyed the Volumes 1 & 2. I found both volumes to be extremely “user-friendly.” The “learning modules” concept is great; I think personally, it helps with long term retention of the material. In addition, the lessons were interactive, which is perfect with my type of “learning style”…..I was able to read the material and then put it to practical use by writing down the information in an organized manner. Now, I ‘m looking forward to the dictation portion.
When I started to research this industry last September, I started investigating the different medical transcription training companies. I always came back to Meditec.Com. Meditec.Com was by far the premier company! In fact, I called John at least 6 times, always with questions and he was so patient. Now, my neighbor who’s also a teacher, has just purchased her first installment, and she’s looking forward to a new beginning. Maybe we’ll have a new network of former teachers and Meditec.Com alumni here in South Texas!
In addition to John’s professionalism, Julie was absolutely delightful! I enjoyed talking with her this morning, too.
I will keep you posted on my adventures with dictation and Windows!
Have a great evening.
Sincerely,
Leslie T. “
“Although I have not passed, for whatever reason, it stated that I am a graduate and will receive my certificate of completion. When can I expect my certificate to arrive, I have already gotten hired with St. Luke’s Regional Hospital, and they would like to verify that I have indeed completed this course.
Sincerely,
Heather R.
Hi Jari,
Just thought I would take a few minutes and let you know how it’s
going. I have been working for [ABC Transcription] for about 1-1/2 months
now. I suspect the pay is a little lower than I could have gotten with
[XYZ Transcription], who offered me a job the day after I took this one; but I
had already signed the contract with [ABC Transcription] and everyone here seems nice so
I’m staying with them for now. [XYZ] says to keep them in mind anyway.
Right now [ABC] is keeping me busy and I’m getting all the experience I
can handle. I do mostly soaps for 2 doctors right now. One is usually
quite easy to transcribe for. The other is comparable to some of the
doctors on the practice tapes for the course. She had a habit of doing
her dictation in the same room with a couple of very loud-talking
people, and the louder they get, the softer she spoke. I finally had to
register a complaint with my boss and she talked to somebody about it.
Now the doctor has started going outside and I have to listen through
traffic noise and lots of heavy wind blowing across the microphone. It
actually is an improvement though.
The best part of the job is I get to stay at home and do it. I’ve been
working a lot of long hours but the paychecks have been worth it. It
sure has made the time go faster for me.
Anyway, I should be getting my download for today soon so I need to get
busy. I just wanted to give you an update.
Thanks again for the training and moral support.
Mary”
“Hi Jari,
I got the job with [ABC Transcription]! They were very impressed with my entrance test and I’m starting this week on a new account for them. Thank you for your support. I’ve recommended your program to several people!
Holly W.
I just wanted to let you know, Jari, that I just landed a transcription job in the Radiology Department at [ABC General] Hospital here in Lexington. I need the experience and it’s working out just perfectly. I tried to work for [XYZ Transcription] doing at-home transcription (and I still plan to in two years) but I couldn’t make an overall 97% on the tests. I did, however, do very well. I thought you might like to see the scores and they are:
Overall Test Score: 90.24
Written Test: 94
Operative Report: 81.56
Discharge Summary: 87.59
ER Gunshot Wound: 95.25
ER DVT Report: 91.56
I did want to take this opportunity to thank you for all you have done and to let you know about one former student. I have absolutely no regrets. Not only did I learn, as you said, an enormous amount of material in a surprisingly short period of time, but it was a rewarding experience as well.
I am 63 years old and I consider myself very lucky to have gotten this hospital position, Jari, and I am going to make the most of it.
Thank you again.
Warmest regards,
Lois S.”
“Hi Jari,
Okay, thanks. Will work on it this weekend.
Your course is so good, that my terminology allowed me to get a job in a hospital where I work in the Cardiorespiratory Unit. I handle patient registrations, plus the transcription. I transcribe Sleep Study Reports, PFT reports, and EEG reports.
I thought this would be nice to be “mentored” into transcripton per se, full time.
Regards,
Jessy B.”
[This is a posting to a message board of which someone sent us a copy]
“Hi Susan,
Wow, I ate too much and now I can not think.
Did you get a chance to look at the website?
A lot of the people on the MT school message board promote Andrews, M-Tech, and Career Step. For the extra money, they are good and have good reputations. Some of the people on the board actually own MT schools and they are promoting them, which is against the board’s rules. I know the monitor and owner of the MTDaily school message board. She has to constantly delete things from the board that have been posted by people who hate any school but their own.
I can only speak for Meditec. I am very happy with the program, and I am about to graduate in July. It will have taken me approximately 3 months to
take the entire course and that is without taking more than 3- 6 hours per day M-F. This link will take you to the course comparison chart of how all the schools measure up with each other.
What I found when I looked at the Andrews, M-Tech, and Career Step programs (websites) were that they furnished you with a lot of books (as a part of
their fee) that you really do not need. Meditec.Com furnishes (as a part of their fee) all the text that is needed to train you to become a successful
Medical Transcriptionist. They also furnish a Surgical Compendium, which you have to purchase separately in some of the other schools, and also a
HomeBiz book, which is priceless for enabling you to set up your own Medical Transcription business in your home, should you choose to do so. I have
purchased a good illustrated medical dictionary at $ 35.00, a great medical abbreviation book at $ 21.00 and a book of medical words, which I do not
use because all the words and abbreviations are in Meditec.Com’s books. So why pay $ 2,000- $ 3,000 more dollars to have a large MT library, which you
can build over time.
Meditec offers two different prices, which you can discuss with their staff. The people at the school message board will argue that you get what you pay for, I am sure that you have heard that phrase before. And some have even said, “Why is the price for Meditec so low?” Well my answer to them is why is your school so high? That phrase is not original with me; the President of Meditec asked the same question.
Some days, I studied more than 4 hours and some days less than 2. It is a great course that is taught in a foundation building type manner (i.e..
not unlike building a house). Jari Davis, the President has written a program that is not only easy to comprehend, but easy to work with. By the time
you get through Volume One, you will know how to discern medical words that are diseases, procedures, tests etc., because you will have learned the
prefices, suffices and roots of words. Also, in Volume One you will learn English and grammar techniques, which will enable you to form medical
words using prefices, root words, and suffices. You will learn how to use combining vowels (usually o or i) to bring together all the components of
the words in order to form exact medical procedures, tests, and diseases etc. At the end of this course, (and that is where I am) you will be
able to look at a medical term or word and be able to understand the meaning.
For example, you will know that encephalitis is an inflammation in the brain because you would have learned that “en” means inside or within, and that
cephal refers to the head (what is inside or within the head? the brain…) and that itis means inflammation.
Meditec also has a great anatomy course written and illustrated (pictures… black and white) that is very detailed and easy tounderstand. I could go on and on. The person who said on the board that it is not important if the students are happy with the school. What??? Well, as my grandson says, “DUH!” If I could not be happy with the program that I am studying, how could I have a hope to enjoy the profession.
I can only add this Susan, whenever I have applied or emailed some of the MT companies while looking for future employment, I have gotten a response
immediately when I told them what school I was graduating from. I have already had three offers, and I have not even graduated yet. It is not what the negative (I’m am sure you have noted that) people on the message board have to say about the other schools (Meditec included)besides the one that they are promoting, it is what do the Medical Transcription Companies, who have a reputation to uphold with their clients (doctors and clinics) have to say about Meditec. So far, I have gotten rave reviewsfrom the companies that I have contacted.
Let me promise you this Susan, if you go with Meditec (and no I get nothing for telling you this, and I do not work for the company), I will personally
lead you to some top MT companies and will email you great sites that will enable you to succeed in the Medical transcriptionist business. Now tell
me who on that board can make that kind of guarantee? Who will give of their time to mentor you. You might ask, “Why would you do that for me?” The
answer is simple, I want you to succeed, and there is plenty of work out there for all of us.
One last thing (did I already say that hee-hee), Jari has made this a fun course. I could not be happier!! Well feel free to email me and let me
know what you decide.
Sincerely,
Constance K.”
“Hi Jari, I GOT THE JOB. My first coding position. It is a small account, the hospital usually sees between 12-15,000 patients a year, but it is a start. Maybe now with a little experience in time I can get more accounts. I am so happy. THANK YOU AND EVERYONE at MEDITEC. I will keep in touch and let you know how things are going.
Hi Jari, I have wonderful news! Not only did I pass the CPC exam the first time around but I just received notice that I was accepted at The VA Medical Center here in Asheville, NC as an Outpatient Coder with a pay scale that doubles my current pay. Your course was instrumental in my success and gave me the tools to succeed. Thank you so much for all your support. I would recommend your program to anyone, and I already have. I never dreamed I would get this far and in such a short period of time, but I did and I owe it to ordering your courses, I looked at many different courses online and yours struck me as the best. Well… I am living proof it works! I start my new career March 10, and I can’t wait. This job will change my life and that of my family. THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES OVER!
Sincerely,
Gwenn A.”
“Hi Jari: I am a coder!! I got that job. I owe my passing the exam on the experience I received from your course. I sat at the AAPC exam with about 50 people, all with a few years of experience under their belt and they were taking the test for the second and third times. It was a very hard test. There was 500 questions, exam taking 6 hours. But I PASSED THE FIRST TIME.”
“Hi Jari, remember me? I took your course in Jan/Feb this year, got a great job as Head Coder for an ASC. I took the AHIMA exam for CCA yesterday and passed! So now I’m certified! Thanks Next I’m sitting for the AAPC CPC-H exam in August. Just wanted to let you know.
Deb “
Corie,
“Thanks for all your help!! For your records, I am starting work for a medical billing company here in Shreveport,
Louisiana. It is a new company called E-stat Secure Medical Claims. This test was a prerequisite for my
employment there. Thank you for the great training!!

“Hello, I wanted to say I am totally pleased with my learning experience with Meditec.Com’s online Coding program. I had been enrolled in another program prior to yours and I can’t be more pleased with my decision to switch. I would highly recommend your programs to anyone. Thanks for the nice reference letter also.
Sincerely,

“Hi! Just wanted to let you know I interviewed & was offered (which I accepted) a great job as head coder for a new Outpatient Surgical Center. They gave me a coding test, 12 surgical CPTs and I coded every one correctly, thanks to your program I’m sure. Thanks again, I’ll be in touch.
Debbie M.”
“Thank you so much for answering my concerns regarding the coding course. I did what you suggested and went onto Volume II and have thoroughly enjoyed coding the charts. It is encouraging when I code the chart 100% correctly (hasn’t happened too many times!!!) but practice makes perfect. I have 25 charts left before completion. I have a question regarding the final exam. Is there a designated time of day that it can be taken. I work from 7AM til 5PM each day and was wondering if it can be taken on the weekend or evening or just during normal business hours. Can you give me a little insight as to how it works. I have already paid in advance and wanted to know also how far in advance I have to schedule.
I want to say THANK YOU for always being so prompt in answering my questions. You have been very helpful and encouraging and I have enjoyed this course immensely. I have recommended it to several people already.
Thanks again,
Pat”
“The course was great. Easy to follow and thorough. I currently work in a medical office as a receptionist but I wanted to advance in my job so I looked into coding and found your course. I plan on coding full time at some point soon. I have already been offered a job with the physical therapist in our building.
Thank you for your time to e-mail me. I hope to be hearing back from you soon.
Thanks,
Jennifer”
“I’d like to add that the Meditec Coding Course was terrific and I truly enjoyed learning from it. It was just great – wow! I know that it will serve to help me become an excellent
Medical Coder. Can’t wait to get started in the field.
Gloria”
“Thank you for responding. I’m glad to know you got my
test answers.
I enjoyed the course. It was nice to be able to study
at my own pace. I found it easy to understand and
work the assignments.
I have already been interviewing for coding positions
in physician’s clinics. I have appointments set up
with Human Resource contacts at two of our local
hospitals to visit about their requirements and to
obtain suggestions from them to get the experience I
will need to work into the hospital environment. I
will be discussing the possibility of medical records
coding clerk and/or claims analyst.
I look forward to receiving my certificate of
completion and my new test results.

“Hello at Meditec. Our department purchased 20 coding/billing training courses for our clinic in Cleveland. What a masterful job you have done on the course material. You have now certified 13 of the trainees and the rest are waiting to finish. We have recommended these courses to everyone who will listen.

“RE: Pharmacy Career Training
Dear Gary and Angela,
I just wanted to take a minute and tell you both how amazing you have been to work with. I was hesitant to do this because it has been a long time since I have worked in pharmacy, and with my husband depolyed I was worried I wouldn’t stay comitted. But from the day I signed up and both of you gave me encouragement, I felt I was completing it for you guys too.
Thank you both for your support and staying with me throughout my computer inabilities!!! Please share with your supervisors, I am so happy I got to work with you guys!!!
Thanks again!

“8/9/10
I started researching schools through MYCAA and found Meditec had all I needed… The main reason I chose Meditec is because of Angela. She was my advisor, and honestly she was there answering questions every step of the way. She called me, not emailed, she made sure I was going along ok, and so did Gary. I felt very well supported!!!!

“Hi Gary,
Just saying Hi and letting you know how it’s going–My online MT course has been a great experience, and I plan to take the final exam in December. Thank you for your assistance along the way…hope to qualify for the Jumpstart program…will keep you posted. Take good care.
