Program Details

In this course, we'll introduce you to the roles and responsibilities of a certified physical therapy aide in various healthcare settings. You'll discover what tasks are appropriate for a certified physical therapy aide and what tasks should be handled by other healthcare professionals.

You'll gain medical knowledge related to the practice of physical therapy, including terminology, human anatomy, functional body movements, and system disorders. You'll also become familiar with proper positioning and patient transfers, as well as common exercises, modalities, and medical equipment. Finally, we'll review the basics of charting and recordkeeping, as well as the legal and ethical considerations that should guide your behavior in a healthcare setting.

By the end of your studies, you'll be prepared for the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)'s Physical Therapy Technician/Aide Certification (PTTC) exam. We'll even provide a PTTC Exam voucher to cover the cost. Please note, the AMCA requires candidates to possess a high school diploma or the equivalent and be at least 18 years of age to sit for their exam.

In addition to PTTC curriculum, this program includes additional training for administrative skills and duties that can round out your resume and set you up for success. You'll tackle the Microsoft Office suite and develop important professional skills like business etiquette, communication, problem-solving, time management, and customer service.

Lastly, you'll get an externship starter kit that will walk you through everything you need to know to land a PT aide externship, build work experience, and gain professional references.
