DISCLAIMER: The Workforce Grants (WIA Grants) are a program offered through the U.S. Department of Labor. Funding, application and qualification criteria are subject to change. Meditec.com does not guarantee that any student will qualify for a grant, nor does it make any guarantees as to the amount of funding that a student may qualify to receive. The link at the top of this page will take students directly to the U.S. Department of Labor website, which provides all current information regarding these grants. It is the student's sole responsibility to research any available or applicable grants and for completing all applications and qualification forms.
The basics of the program (WIA Grants):
- Federal grants are made to individuals through their local work force office (by state). The amount of money available is subject to change, but may be sufficient to cover the entire cost of your course of study.
- Especially applicable for Meditec-type courses, are those related to health care training.
- Income guidelines for the grants vary - related to recent unemployment, or welfare assistance in the preceding 24 months (income doesn't necessarily matter), federal poverty levels (depending on family size).
- Displaced, and newly unemployed workers.
- Funds are administered through local work force offices (Check with your State/Local Workforce Services Program for further details). You will find them under state agency listings from the DOL website or in the blue pages of your local phone directory. Also, local welfare offices (virtually every city and town has one of these) may alo have the information you need for contacting the applicable office about these grants.
- They are called WIA grants.
