Certified Medical Claims Professional (CMCP)

| Resources Page | Medical Billing FAQs |
A Certified Medical Claims Professional (CMCP) is a professional Medical Biller that has demonstrated formal knowledge of medical insurance billing in the health care setting in the United States. This is a new certification especially created for entry level candidates as no other certification exists that does not require work experience. CMCP is expected to become the most well known and highly regarded entry level certification for Medical Billers.

New Billers who earn the CMCP will have demonstrated their formal knowledge of the billing process, even if they don't have job experience. Earning a CMCP is evidence of a self motivated commitment to learn quality billing processes. CMCP holders also distinguish themselves from non-credentialed Medical Billers, which currently constitute the majority. Voluntary certification indicates initiative as well as compliance with the professional standards for practice in this medical support services specialty.

The American Career Certification Board (ACCB) grants the CMCP title. It is a non-profit organization that defines professional standards for the entry level professional. The CMCP credential proves tested accuracy in a billing practitioner and is a clear step above non-certified Medical Billers.
