Can someone please tell me if Meditec is an AAMT approved training program?

AAMT started some years after Meditech Transcription. I (Jari Davis) chaired the Utah Chapter and for a time, the Idaho for AAMT and was probably one of the first "certified" medical transcriptionists. At that time, standards were implemented with input from MTSO (Medical Transcription Service Owners who subsequently formed MTIA) for basic training standards. Input for many of the "standards" were provided by Meditech, and obviously were already incorporated into Meditec's training program(s). When AAMT decided to adopt more formal approval processes for $3000 or so, we thought about it, but have not yet applied. Our programs have been in place since 1969 and they work very well.

Nonetheless, in all things, we certainly support them in all they do. They have changed their name and somewhat changed and expanded their focus to AHDI (Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity).
